Web and Handicapper status

Web status

If you have issues with the passwords, just email highway and he’ll fix it.

Why the passwords?

The passwords have two reasons:

  1. They mean we can password protect some content, ie photos and general stuff
  2. They identify you which is handy as I integrate the handicapper more.

New additions

The web site has had a few changes:

  • I’ve added the ability to login and upload photos as you’re doing your round. It’s in the photos gallery. This’ll make it easier to get photos to Stu also you can do it as you take the photo so you’ll remember.
  • I’ve added a “Balls owed page”

Handicapper status

The official handicapper is Stuart. What he says goes. If there is a difference between what the web and newsletter, the newsletter is correct.

Whats the plan with this cr@p?

There was two aims of the web handicapper:

  1. Be able to view your rounds online and improve your game. For example, last month I think my putting was bad, but is that the thing to work on or is it more getting to the green? I call it “What am I more shit at?”. Hopefully the stats will show you what you need to work on and where you are improving. Also you can look up a round if you can’t remember.
  2. To make it easier for Stuart to do the handicapping. But this will take time as there is 14 years of work in the Excel spreadsheets that are currently used.

 Where are we up to?

Round display and stats:

Currently the web site displays each round you have done. There are still some bugs and I’m happy to fix any you see. The latest was the GIR’s were incorrect.

Stableford points, ranking and points per round
These are calculating correctly for the handicap. Unfortunately the handicaps are incorrect and so the stableford points are not exactly right.
Leaderboard and competitions
The leaderboards and comps are incorrect due to the handicaps. I have written stroke, eclectic stableford but still have to work on eclectic stroke and par comps.
Handicaps
Handicaps are now incorrect. They are nearly right but are still not exactly the same as the Excel. I am rewriting the way I was storing previous handicaps as it was causing the issue.
